Chichester Harbour Wildfowlers Association was formed in 1956 due directly to the 1954 Protection of Birds Act and the growing need to protect the interests of the local Wildfowler and help to sustain the legal pursuit of Ducks, Geese and Waders below the Sea Wall.

CHWA at the onset affiliated to the then Wildfowlers Association of Great Britain and Ireland (WAGBI) latterly the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC).

Wetland Management and Conservation has been the backbone of CHWA from the start, with over 26 Wetland projects being undertaken Successfully.

The CHWA Public Relations Team attend a number of Shows and Events during the year in order to promote and maintain the excellent reputation that has been built up with local residents and dignitaries, and helping to secure Wildfowling for future generations.

CHWA runs a very successful Clay Pigeon Shoot during the Summer months providing sport for its Members as well as non members, various competitions are included within the schedule of events such as a Side by Side Championship, and an Interclub Championship with the other Wildfowling clubs within the area and also an Interclub Juniors competition. CHWA has a flourishing Juniors section, helping to provide the next generation of Wildfowlers and ensure the future of Wildfowling in Chichester Harbour.

The Management Committee of The Chichester Harbour Wildfowlers Association actively encourage its members and their families to take part in the many activities, work party's and social events that take place throughout the year, ensuring that its members not only continue to enjoy some of the finest Wildfowling on the South Coast of England but making sure that Wildfowling continues to be a way of life for the whole family.
